This year we will see “On The Map,” an exciting and inspiring documentary about the underdog ’76-’77 Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team.  Shir Hadash is co-hosting the screening of this film.

The 1970s was a tense period in Israel’s history—with Israeli athletes murdered at the 1972 Munich Olympics and Israeli soldiers killed in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. In the midst of this gloomy period, a miracle happened!  The Maccabi basketball team toppled the mighty Soviet Union team and put Israel “on the map.”

Q and A with director Dani Menkin and Israeli basketball legend Tai Brody to follow screening.

Afterwards, we will head over to Wildfire in Glenview for refreshments, each picking up his or her own tab. It will be a great chance to have a bite and discuss the movie.
