Find your way on one of the many paths to membership at Shir Hadash.

Pathway 1: 30 years old and Younger

Pathway 2: 31 to 40 Years old

If you are a household where the oldest adult is between the ages of 31 and 40 we are offering one of the following three scenarios:

  • If you currently do not have children the membership commitment is reduced by 40% the first year, 30% off second year and 20% off third year.
  • If you are enrolling your oldest child in Kindergarten – 2nd Grade Religious School your commitment is reduced by 40% for the first year, 30% for the second year and 20% for the third year.
  • If you are enrolling the oldest child in 3rd or 4th grade your membership commitment is reduced by 30% off the first year and 20% of second year

Pathway 3: 41 years old and older

If you are 41 years old or older, your membership commitment is reduced by 20% for the first year.

Building Fund

If you find yourself on pathway 2 or 3, you are expected to pay $350 per year toward the building fund for a total of 7 years or sooner**.
**If you have fulfilled a building fund commitment at a previous congregation, this commitment is waived.
A Word About Dues

Every membership at Shir Hadash is vitally important to our community, and every donation is deeply appreciated.  If you are able to do so, please consider increasing your support of people and programs throughout our Shir Hadash community by increasing your Membership Commitment to a higher level. Your participation will allow us to stabilize, strengthen, and sustain Shir Hadash and set it on a course for a healthy and positive future.

Our way of addressing Shir Hadash's financial needs as equitably as possible is through Fair Share Dues.

Everyone who benefits from Shir Hadash should contribute fairly to the congregation to the best of their ability. Dues are self-assessed; however, there is a minimum dues level that members are expected to meet.  Please recognize your obligation to our congregation and embrace the Fair Share Dues model.  Your honest self-assessment will help provide dues assistance to the families in our congregation whose financial circumstances do not permit them to donate at the basic level of dues.

A Word About Consideration and Applying for the Samuel I Andes Scholarship

Shir Hadash believes that an inability to pay should never be a barrier to membership or education. While recognizing that some of our members are unable to pay the full dues assessment, membership dues are our primary source of income and we do need sufficient resources to fund and support:

* Our Rabbi, Executive Director, Director of Lifelong Learning, and Office Administrator
* Our religious school
* Our music program
* Our building
* Activities, events, and programming

The Samuel I. Andes Scholarship Fund has been established to enable all Jewish youth the opportunity to have a Jewish education at Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Synagogue. This is a need-based fund that is in place for those children who would otherwise not be able to attend the Shir Hadash religious school due to economic reasons.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT

Shir Hadash is committed to excellence - in programming, education, staffing and service.

Excellence includes meeting our budget.

Shir Hadash exists because previous members recognized and fulfilled their responsibility toward its' preservation.

When you become a part of Shir Hadash, your commitment to conscientious dues support helps assure future generations that Shir Hadash will be here to serve them.

SHIR HADASH BUILDING FUND

If I am not for myself, who is for me?  And if I am only for myself, what am I?
Hillel, Pirkei Avot / Ethics of the Fathers 1:14

Shir Hadash is much more than an organization:  It is a congregational home.  Just like your home, our facilities need upkeep and maintenance, but this can only be done through the generous support of congregants and members of the community.

In order to preserve our congregational home and keep it secure for future generations, we must keep it on a solid financial basis.  Through the expected payment of the building fund, in addition to dues, all members of the community help achieve this goal.

This is a one-time commitment that can be paid over a maximum of 7 years.  If you are unsure if you have fulfilled your building fund commitment please check "Unsure" and we will bill your appropriately.

SHIR HADASH SPECIAL FUNDS

Shir Hadash relies on the generosity of its members to sustain our vibrant community.  Contributions can be made to honor a loved one, pay tribute to someone special, mark a special occasion or simply as support for our community.  Gifts can be targeted or unrestricted.  We appreciate the financial support of our members which allows us to be a synagogue for all and maintain the quality programming and services that have become our hallmark.

Please enter the amount you would like to donate in the lines below.

You may leave lines blank.  Special fund donations will be added to the Total Amount Owed below.

I further understand Shir Hadash depends upon this commitment and I pledge to fulfill my financial obligation on or before May 1, 2017.  If I am unable to do so, I agree to contact the Executive Director to make alternative payment arrangements.
