VIRTUAL SERVICES AT SHIR HADASH

2020 High Holiday Shir Hadash Member Registration

This form is for Shir Hadash Members. Prior to registering for the High Holidays, please renew your membership by clicking here.

Once again, Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Synagogue will hold beautiful, inspiring, creative and musical High Holiday Services. This year, however, our services will be held virtually to protect everyone's health and safety.  You will see the Rabbi leading the services from the synagogue, on our own bimah.  Our Lahaka is already recording wonderful music for you to hear.  And we will have members able to participate - reading prayers or Torah, all from their homes!

Every member will receive, without charge, their own unique viewing code which cannot be shared outside of your household. Services will be held via Zoom.  In addition, members will be able to view the services on our members-only Facebook page; however, we recommend using the Zoom link.  We plan to have everyone try the link once, before the High Holidays, so we can make sure that this new process will work.  If you have any questions, let us know.

Please see sidebar of exact times for each service. ⇒⇒⇒⇒

Children's Program

As usual, we will offer children's programming for Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah Day 1, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur morning services.  This program will be for chldren up to age 13, but your children are also, of course, welcome to be with you during the adult services as well.  (In case you're wondering, everyone will be muted during the service, except those reading a prayer.)  As we usually do, we expect that the children will start and end in the main service, but will have their own program in between.  We will have a separate Zoom link for that program and more details about that program will be provided before the Holidays.   If you would like to register your children for that program, please do so in the form below.

Prayerbooks
Shir Hadash uses the Reconstructionist High Holiday Mahzor.  These books are available for purchase for your use at home.  If you need a book, please purchase below.   We can mail them (including mailing charge) or you can pick them up at the synagogue.  We will have designated drive-up times for book pick-ups.

Guest Tickets
If you have friends who would like to Zoom our services on their own devices, please ask them to use the High Holiday Guest Registration or New Guest Registration forms to register. Or, if you usually register them, you can do that as well, using the same forms. The links to those forms is in the sidebar.

Donations:
Our High Holiday Services have always been a signifant source of income for the synagogue, through selling guest tickets and prayerbooks. While our expenses will be lower this year in producing virtual services, our income will be even more greatly reduced, resulting is a net loss in our Worship budget. We hope that you will be as generous as possible in making your Yom Kippur Appeal pledge this year.  You will be able to make your pledge during the Yom Kippur service, just online instead of passing in your envelope.
