High Holiday Guest Registration

Once again, Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Synagogue will hold beautiful, inspiring, creative and musical High Holiday Services. This year, however, our services will be held virtually to protect everyone's health and safety.  You will see the Rabbi leading the services from the synagogue, on our own bimah.  Our Lahaka is already recording wonderful music for you to hear.  And you will see and hear Shir Hadash members reading prayers and Torah, like always - but all from the safety of their homes!

Every guest will receive their own unique viewing code which cannot be shared outside of your household. Services will be held via Zoom.  We plan to have you all try the link once, before the High Holidays, so we can verify that this new process will work as expected.  If you have any questions, let us know.

Please see sidebar of exact times for each service. ⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒

As a new Shir Hadash guest, you will receive your viewing code after the purchase of your virtual tickets in the form below.  The ticket price is $36 per person watching the services.  As you know, this ticket price is a fraction of our usual ticket prices for the High Holiday services.  We understand that many are facing very challenging economic times. The ticket donation doesn't cover our costs, and if you would like to give more, it would be greatly appreciated.

Children's Program

As usual, we will over children's programming for Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah Day 1, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur morning services.  This program will be for children up to age 13, but your children are also, of course, welcome to be with you during the adult services as well.  (In case you're wondering, everyone will be muted during the service, except those reading a prayer.)  As we usually do, we expect that the children will start and end in the main service, but will have their own program in between.  We will have a separate Zoom link for that program and more details about that program will be provided before the holidays.  If you would like to register your children for that program, please do so in the form below.

Prayerbooks

Shir Hadash uses the Reconstructionist High Holiday Mahzor.  These books are available for purchase for your use at home.  If you need a book, please purchase below.  We can mail them (including mailing charge) or you can pick them up at the synagogue. We will have designated drive-up times for book pick-ups.

Donations:
Our High Holiday Services have always been a significant source of income for us, selling Guest Tickets and Prayerbooks. While our expenses will be lower this year in producing virtual services, our income will be even more greatly reduced, resulting in a net loss in our Worship budget. We hope that you will be as generous as possible in making your Yom Kippur Appeal pledge this year. You will be able to make your pledge during the Yom Kippur service, just online instead of passing in your envelope.

If you have questions about services, don't hesitate to email us at cwr@shir-hadash.org or call our office at (847) 498-8218

We at Shir Hadash rely on revenue from High Holiday tickets to help us meet our budget – including paying our staff, maintaining the synagogue building, and providing all of our programs and services. While our expenses will be somewhat lower this year, our overall income will be even more greatly reduced. To meet our budget goals, we have identified a need for about $8,000 in revenues from tickets for new High Holiday guests. The index below shows how close we are to meeting that goal. Can you help us move the needle? Thanks!
