Shabbat Earth Day Service and Speaker on Environment Preservation - Resources Matter - Do More To Use Less!

In celebration of Earth Day , join us for Shabbat services and a speaker focused on our planet.

• 7:30 - Services led by Rabbi Eitan Weiner-Kaplow will incorporate our responsibilities to perform
Tikkun Olam and care for our planet and our environment. 

• 8:15 - Speaker - Guest speaker Mary S. Allen will provide provide an overview of key programs and resources that focus on waste prevention and recovery, as well as highlight sustainability initiatives. Come and learn what more you can be doing to reduce your carbon footprint to be a better steward of the Earth.

Mary S. Allen will provide an overview of key programs and resources that focus on waste prevention and recovery, as well as highlight sustainability initiatives. Come and learn what more you can be doing to reduce your carbon footprint to be a better steward of
the Earth.

The presentation will include the following topics:

•  The benefits of conserving resources
•  Recycling Dos and Don’ts
•  Happening campaigns and initiatives

•  An overview of Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County
   (SWANCC) and it programs

Mary S. Allen is the Recyling and Education Director for the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), a not-for-profit intergovernmental agency with 23 member municipalities, that includes the Village of Wheeling. Allen began her tenure with SWANCC in 1995 and is responsible for development and administration of SWANCC's community and school programs that focus on reducing waste and toxicity through source reduction, recycling or safe deposit or safe disposal. She further coordinates SWANNC's public outreach and develops the agency's resource materials. Allen has received numerous state and national awards to recognize her leadership in program development.
