This month's destination: Alexandria

Founded in 331 BCE by Alexander the Great, Alexandria became an important center of Hellenic culture in Egypt, and was the capital of Ptolemaic, Roman, and Byzantine Egypt for over a thousand years. Home to two of the Seven Wonders of the World--the Library of Alexandria and the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the city was also home to a thriving Jewish community for centuries. We'll explore this city that was once the largest in the world and learn about its rich, complex story.
