Virtual Co-Sponsored Talk - The Abraham Accords: Israel and the New Middle East with Dan Feferman

Sunday, January 29, 2023 7 Shevat 5783

12:00 PM - 1:00 PMZoom

Shir Hadash is cosponsoring an exciting virtual talk featuring Dan Feferman, Director of Communications and Global Affairs at Sharaka, a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 2020 by people from Israel, The United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain after the signing of The Abraham Accords.

Sharaka leads inter-faith delegations of young Israelis (Israeli Muslims, Druze, Christians, and Jews alike) to the partner countries, and brings delegations of young Emirati and Bahraini and Moroccan influencers to Israel. Participants learn about the other's culture, history, values and traditions. These exchanges--which would have been unthinkable just a few years ago--provide a new and exciting opportunity to build meaningful bridges between Israel and its Arab neighbors.

Registration is not required. We hope you will join in this program, along with guests from Temple Chai, Beth Am, and Beth Judea, to hear what promises to be a very interesting talk.

More about this event:

The Middle East is seeing dramatic changes. The Abraham Accords have normalized relations between Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, with more nations expected to follow.  Non-oil trade between UAE and Israel hit $2 billion in the first nine months of 2022, up 114% from the same period in 2021.

Dan Fefferman has had a front row seat to these exciting developments. Dan is currently the Executive Director of Sharaka, a Middle East based NGO that works to build people-to-people peace between Israel and the Arab and Muslim world and promote the Abraham Accords to new audiences. He is also a co-founder and chair of the Gulf-Israel Policy Forum. Dan, who moved to Israel from Indiana, served in elite roles in the IDF, is an authority on religious pluralism in Israel, and holds degrees from both the United State and Israel. We are fortunate to be able to partner with other Northwest Suburban synagogues to host Dan on a virtual talk on January 29th, and we hope that you will join us!
