The First Lady of Television: In 1950, Gertrude Berg was the popular creator and star of America's first family sit-com, The Goldbergs. When co-star Philip Loeb is accused of communism, Gertrude must make an enormous decision: Fire him to keep the sponsors at bay or defend him and risk the show being canceled. In this new play, based on the true story of a pioneering American entertainer, onstage comedy balances with the offstage intersection of art, religion, and politics. It is shockingly relevant for today.
Tickets will be distributed in the lobby before the show. Please email Andrea Idelman at Andrea.Idelman@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
After the play, we will meet for dinner at a restaurant to be determined. Please indicate in your registration if you would like to join the theatre group for the show and dinner. Dinner will be at your own expense. If you don't plan to attend the performance, but want to meet for dinner, please notify Andrea.Idelman@yahoo.
The ticket purchase deadline is August 13.
