Sunday in the Park with Bagels is a free, family-friendly “tour of the Jewish calendar” through food and activities. Northern Jewish Connectors teams up with Shir Hadash and the greater Jewish community to host the event.

It is geared toward unengaged and unaffiliated Jewish and interfaith families with young children, and brings a taste of Jewish culture to the greater community. The program is marketed in both Jewish and secular outlets, and is open to all families with young children, regardless of their religious background.

The program offers fun, age-appropriate holiday crafts, games, and food tastings, all free of charge. Children receive a passport upon arrival, to be stamped at each holiday activity station and returned for a prize. Some examples of holiday stations include:

Passover egg races
Rosh Hashanah honey tasting
Tu B’shevat parsley planting
Shavuot bagels and cream cheese tasting
Shabbat challah cover decorating

Sunday in the Park with Bagels also features interactive musical entertainment and a puppet show.

Children and parents alike learn about Jewish holidays in a creative, approachable, and fun way. Families are invited to participate in a free raffle, which also serves as name collection device so that the program hosts can follow up with the participants, learn more about them, and invite them to relevant, upcoming programs and events within the Jewish community.
