Committee and Activity Descriptions

As a volunteer organization, our committees and groups keep everything rolling along and happening,  managing our building, supporting our membership, reaching out to our community.  For us to continue to grow and be successful, we need people on our committees.  Below are brief descriptions of each group.  To sign up for more information, please go to our Get Involved page.

Building Operations

Our building is a work in progress.  The building operations committee is responsible for ongoing, daily operations, maintenance and upkeep, and planning for expansion and improvements.

Capital Campaign

There are so many things we want to do with our home.  But we need to raise funds to make our dreams happen.  Join this committee and help design capital campaign materials, develop campaign strategies and team up with another Committee member to meet with people who want to make donations. 1 meeting a month plus 1 meeting with a donor per month.

Creative Worship & Ritual

Plan and implement both traditional and innovative worship services.  Includes planning for regular Friday night services as well as High Holidays, Lights and Miracles and Pausing in the Wilderness.  As we continue to grow, CWR will also tackle Religious issues including implementing new Kashrut policy.

Education

Educating our children is one of the most important things we do.  This committee works with our Education Director to help guide and plan our education program.

Events & Programming

Have a fun time creating fun and creative events to keep our calendar full of interesting things for our members and community.  Movie Nights, Honey Sales, Community Seder, Annual picnic and more.  1 Meeting a month, plus specific projects.

Finance and Human Resources

Seeking people with accounting, human resources, and general business experience to help manage the accounting, financial, and human resources systems of the congregation.  Assorted duties, divided among the committee based on skill sets and needs.

Gala Planning

Help plan the annual Shir Hadash Fundraising Gala.  We need people who like to plan parties and people who can solicit goods for a silent auction.  There is 1 Gala meeting a month during most of the year, but more activity as the Gala approaches.

Lahaka - Choir

Shir Hadash - a New Song - needs your voice!  Our Lahaka is always seeking new voices to join them in creating the rich sounds we've come to love at our services and other events.

Landscaping

Seeking green thumbs to help us design and implement plans for our green spaces.  With almost 2 acres of green space, there is a lot of opportunity here!

Marketing

We are fabulous and we want everyone to know it!  Our marketing team produces flyers and announcements on our wide variety of events and makes sure the world knows about them!

Membership - In Reach

Help us keep in touch with our current members to share information and find out what is or is not working through phone calls and town hall meetings. Greet members and guests at worship services.

Membership - Out Reach

We are a continually growing community - this team reaches out to prospective members through open houses, events such as Matzah in the Grocery Aisle and the Jewish Festival.

MOSH  - Men Of Shir Hadash

Social gatherings create community.  MOSH plans events for both families and men only.

Social Action

Social action committee coordinates soup kitchens, blood drives, food packing for Rosh Hashanah and Passover, coat and toy drives and other tikkun olam (repair the world) projects.
