On Sunday, May 18, 2025, Shir Hadash will hold our annual meeting in the sanctuary at Shir Hadash.  The business meeting is for members only and will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. 
 
It will also be available on Zoom for those that cannot attend in person.  The Zoom link will be sent out the week prior to the meeting. 
 
We will conduct virtual voting as we did last year.  Details will be provided as we approach the meeting date. You will have a timeframe to log in and vote that will run from the start of the meeting until later in the day. Logging in and voting on May 18 is the preferred method as your doing so enables us to count you toward the quorum required. This is very important because there is no election without a quorum. You can leave the in person or Zoom meeting immediately after voting if you are unable to stay for the entire meeting.  In two-adult households, one adult can obtain the ballot of, and vote on behalf of, the other adult member as well as on behalf of her/himself.
 
Since all members of the Finance Committee have signed confidentiality agreements, they will be responsible for tallying the votes. They will authenticate that each voter is a member in good standing of our synagogue and count the votes cast.  In order to protect the confidentiality of the voting process after the voting is closed and the votes tallied, the final totals will be archived and the individual votes will be deleted.
 
At the meeting, you will be asked to vote for candidates for open positions on the Board of Directors.
We will also vote on the proposed operating and capital budgets for our upcoming fiscal year, July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026. Please refer to the email that will be sent prior to the meeting for the list of candidates and the proposed budgets.
 
If you are unable to participate in the meeting in person or virtually via Zoom and you wish to vote, please contact the Shir Hadash office at 847-498-8218, or send an email to admin@shir-hadash.org, and you will be sent an absentee ballot.  All absentee ballots must be received by the Shir Hadash office no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025. We’d greatly prefer that you vote on-line on May 18 as absentee votes do not count toward meeting the required quorum.
 
The Annual Meeting will feature leadership reports and updates.  We encourage you to participate in this important meeting and voting process for Shir Hadash. It is a wonderful chance to gather with your fellow congregants, share your ideas and provide input to the governance process.  We look forward to your joining us.
