Shavu'ot is the holiday on which we celebrate the Jews receiving the Torah from God. And how do we celebrate? One way is to have evening sessions in which we study Torah or discuss other Jewish subjects.  The other is to eat cheese and wheat - especially in the form of cheesecake & blintzes.  (There are various theories as to how that got started, but maybe the ancestors of the people who make Eli's Cheesecake had something to do with it?  Anyway...)

On Tuesday, June 11, join us for Shavuot!

6pm - Pasta Dinner - Register below! Dinner will be spinach lasagna, tossed salad, and a gluten free & dairy free pasta (details coming soon). Please write dietary needs in the Notes box.

6:40pm - Shavu'ot & Yizkor Service

7:15pm - Blintz Bar opens & Study Sessions begin

Sessions will be on Jewish topics, led by Shir Hadash members (in no particular order):

  • The Spirituality of Fly Fishing
  • Jews and Coffee - What's the History?
  • Definitions of Zionism
  • Mussar Workshop
  • Star Trek's Ferengi as Amazing Jewish Representation

For the oneg, please bring some cheese and wheat - we'd love to see a great variety: cheesecakes, cheese and crackers, and so on! And for those who can't eat cheese or wheat, other oneg items are always welcome.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
