SH Outing: The Band's Visit at the Cadillac Palace

Sunday, September 15, 2019 15 Elul 5779

2:00 PM - 5:00 PMCadillac Palace, Chicago

Shir Hadash will be going as a group to see last year's Tony winner for Best Musical, The Band's Visit, on Sunday September 15th at 2 PM. The musical won 10 Tony Awards and the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, and is based on the Israeli movie of the same name which we screened last summer at Shir Hadash. It tells the heart warming story of an Egyptian band stranded in a dusty Israeli town. You can learn more about this wonderful musical at https://thebandsvisitmusical.com.

From Broadway in Chicago: "In this joyously offbeat story, set in a town that’s way off the beaten path, a band of musicians arrive lost, out of the blue. Under the spell of the desert sky, and with beautiful music perfuming the air, the band brings the town to life in unexpected and tantalizing ways. Even the briefest visit can stay with you forever. With a Tony-and Grammy-winning score that seduces your soul and sweeps you off your feet, and featuring thrillingly talented onstage musicians, The Band’s Visit rejoices in the way music makes us laugh, makes us cry, and ultimately, brings us together."

Ticket availability is already tight. We will be purchasing a block of group tickets to the show. Our plan is buy mid-balcony seats for $58 each. Broadway in Chicago has tight restrictions on group seats, so if you plan to go, you must e-mail Burton Kopulsky at bkopulsk@chicagobooth.edu by Sunday June 9th. We will then purchase the block of tickets and you will have two weeks to pay for your tickets via our website or they will be canceled. Once you purchase your ticket (s) it/they are non-refundable.

Please reach out to Burton with any questions. Hopefully, many of you can make it to this special event. We will coordinate a dinner around the show closer to the performance. If you choose to purchase your own tickets to the show separately, you are still welcome to join the dinner.
